App Store screenshot sizes (2026): iPhone and iPad

If your app runs on iPhone, you need at least one screenshot for the medium Dynamic Island iPhone (for example 1206 × 2622 pixels) and a set for the large iPhone. If it runs on iPad, the 13-inch iPad size (2064 × 2752) is required. Every other size is optional; leave it out and the App Store scales down the closest larger set.

The numbers below come from Apple's App Store Connect documentation as of November 2026. Apple updates the list with every new device, so it's worth a quick look at the current table in App Store Connect before you upload.

The general rules

  • At least 1 and up to 10 screenshots per device size.
  • JPEG or PNG.
  • No transparency. A PNG with an alpha channel gets rejected, so don't switch the background off when you export.

That last rule trips people up more than any other. Export a mockup as a transparent PNG, upload it, and App Store Connect refuses it. For the store, always export with a background.

iPhone screenshot sizes

Apple groups sizes by display type rather than by inches. Portrait sizes:

  • Dynamic Island, large display: 1320 × 2868, 1290 × 2796 or 1260 × 2736. Optional; without it the large Face ID set is used.
  • Face ID, large display: 1284 × 2778 or 1242 × 2688. Required if you don't provide large Dynamic Island screenshots.
  • Dynamic Island, medium display: 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556. Required, at least one.
  • Face ID, medium display: 1170 × 2532, 1125 × 2436 or 1080 × 2340. Optional.
  • Home button, large: 1242 × 2208. Optional.
  • Home button, medium: 750 × 1334. Optional.

For landscape screenshots, swap width and height (2868 × 1320 and so on).

New sizes for iPhone Duo

The foldable iPhone Duo has two displays and Apple defines a size for each: 1398 × 2034 for the outer display and 2007 × 2853 for the inner one. According to Apple they become required from April 2027 for apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later. Mockup Center already has an iPhone Duo model, so you can prepare two-screen images now.

iPad screenshot sizes

  • 13-inch: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732. Required if your app runs on iPad.
  • 12.9-inch: 2048 × 2732. Optional; falls back to the 13-inch set.
  • 11-inch: 1668 × 2420, 1668 × 2388, 1640 × 2360 or 1488 × 2266. Optional.
  • 10.5-inch: 1668 × 2224. Optional.

Which sizes to actually make

For most apps two sets are enough: 1320 × 2868 for the large iPhone and 1206 × 2622 for the medium one. Add 2064 × 2752 if you support iPad. The App Store scales the rest, and the result looks fine.

If your screenshots are already that size, you're done. If you're using mockups, set the frame to the App Store size and place the device inside it. Mockup Center takes any width and height you type, so every size on this list is a click away.

Mistakes we keep seeing

  1. A messy status bar. Random time, 12% battery, a row of notification icons. Apple's own images show 9:41 and a full battery.
  2. Text that's too small. In search results the screenshots are thumbnails, and a headline you can't read on a phone does nothing.
  3. A wasted first image. The first screenshots are the ones people see in search, so lead with the strongest feature, not the login screen.
  4. Uploading a transparent PNG, which gets rejected as described above.

Preview videos

Next to screenshots you can add short App Preview videos. Their length and resolution rules are separate and listed in Apple's app preview documentation. A screen recording playing inside an animated iPhone mockup looks far more finished than the bare recording; see mockup video for how that works.
