What Smartmockups (Canva) does well
Smartmockups became part of Canva, and its mockups now live inside Canva's editor. If your team already makes its social posts in Canva, putting a design on a phone, a mug or a T-shirt without leaving the editor is convenient. It covers far more than devices: print, packaging, clothing.
Where Mockup Center is different
Canva's mockups are still images on fixed photographs. You can't turn the device, change the light or animate it. Mockup Center is built for app and website mockups: 65 3D devices you can turn to any angle, 57 animations on a timeline and more than 250 photo mockups of phones, laptops, tablets and watches.
Exports differ too. Mockup Center renders stills and video up to 8K and writes transparent PNG, WebM and ProRes 4444, so the device can sit on your own page or footage.
And it's a one-time purchase rather than part of a Canva subscription.
Which one should you pick?
For merchandise and print mockups, or a quick device image inside a Canva post, Canva is enough. For app store images, launch videos and 3D device scenes, Mockup Center does much more.
